We are in the heart of the Lunigiana, at 'Apella di Licciana Nardi' (province of Massa) 660 m over the sea-level, in the zone of the Apenins of the regions Tuscany and Emilia, where once upon a time the 'Malaspina' were the undisputed lords of the whole territory. These times are remembered by an antique watch tower constructed in the year 1000 b.chr. (obviousely in a strategic position), and enlarged into a defensive rock in the 13th century; in the year 1700 it was transformed into a clock tower and an abbey.
1995 this construction, which has suffered a lot of damages above all due to abandonment, wars and various earthquakes, found once again its antique splendour thanks to Mario Maffei.
Today, as you can see on the photo, it is located in the middle of 1200 hectars, which you can discover by foot or riding a horse. During your excursions you should pick up (in the right season) strawberries, bilberries, chestnuts and mushrooms of all kinds, which are in the territory's woods. During your excursions (if you want, you will be accompanied by experts) you will meet cows, goats, sheeps, house-animals, and wild animals of all kinds (deers, fallow deers, moufflons, roes, wild-boars etc.). Those who are keen on fishing can fish big mountain trouts in the clear and clean water of the river which crosses the company's wide territory.
After having passed some 'dynamic' hours you should relax, swimming in the company's swimming pool. After that you will be just in time in order to sit down in a beautiful and wide dining room, where you can enjoy lunch and dinner. The simple and curate kitchen offers the Lunigiana's traditional dishes prepared with healthy and genuine biological ingredients produced by the company. The meat (veal, beef and lamb of the breed 'Zerasca'), game, fresh or conserved mushrooms, undergrowth products are the necessary ingredients used for the preparation of the delicious dishes which are suggested to the guests, like e.g.: herb pies, 'pattone' (bread with chestnut flour prepared in plates of terracotta), tagliatelle with mushroom sauce, tortelloni with vegetables and fresh ricotta, game and mushrooms prepared in various manners, fine cut beef, lamb etc. The company owns six apartments, and eight double-rooms with a third bed, all of them with bathroom/WC.
It is the ideal place for those who want to spend calm holidays, in the middle of the nature. We want to point out that in 30 minutes by car you can reach the marvellous and famous villages along the coast of the Versilia, the whole eastern coast (Tellaro, Fiascherino, Lerici, Portovenere, the Cinque Terre) and the villages of Levanto, Framura, Bonassola etc.
