Trekking fans will be enthusiastic about the trails of the C.A.I. which will lead them over the Monte Parodi (height: 630 m) or over other mountains in the surroundings to the national park of the “Cinque terrre” with its beautiful villages on cliffs (Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso).
The railway station can be reached within 12 minutes by car. During the high season we recommend you to use the train as a mean of transport in order to discover the 5 terre because you will avoid parking problems. The nature guarantees a spectacle! You are spoilt for choice: an excursion in order to reach the sea over stairs and trails, a visit in one of the villages, or a walk along the ridges in the middle of pine and chestnut woods, and observing the nature's beauties. One thing is for sure: you will enjoy a view unique in the world, which you will not forget. Bed & Breakfast 'Da Gaia'is situated in a distance of 10 minutes from the national park which you can reach without any problems over vehicle-free streets, the B&B is close to the state street Aurelia (SS. 1), and within 15 minutes you will reach the motorway A12 (tollgate Brugnato).
After a beautiful day in one of the numerous villages of the surroundings of La Spezia, of the near Lunigiana or of the Versilia you will have the right appetite for a delicious dinner. You can sit down in the dining room, and study the menu which offers almost exclusively dishes of Liguria's traditions, which depend on the season and on the market's offer. Among the starters you will find: small pancakes with fish, vegetable soufflé, stuffed mussels, seafood, salted anchovies etc. You can choose among the following main dishes: lasagne 'meschie' (fresh pasta prepared with chestnut and white flour, pulled, boiled in milk and served with meat sauce or olive oil and parmesan),
crepe stuffed with vegetables, the 'mes-ciùa' (soup with chickpeas, corn, peas and beans served with olive oil and fresh milled black pepper), stockfish “Giulia” (filet of stockfish with vegetables), stockfish with polenta, meat rolls with ham, braised meat with barolo, stuffed cabbage, entrails in Ligurian manner (with beans and potatoes) etc. Finally a delicous dessert: chestnut pie or pudding, apple pie etc. All dishes will be accompanied by a delicious local wine. However, the connoisseurs can choose among the nationl wines on the wine list.
