Nevertheless, the campsite offers all modern services: secure plugs for electricity, water, warm and cold showers, various sanitary services, sinks for grown-ups and children, shop, bar, boccia-field, fooball-field, playground for children, covered dancing room, volleyball-field, table-tennis, a new solarium with sand from the beach, three swimming-pools: one for the children and two for the grown-ups. The campsite is completely surrounded by chestnut-trees. As a consequence even during summer the guests can enjoy a favorable climate which together with the zone's silence guarantees relaxing holidays.
The campsite is managed by the family Polli who makes sure that you feel like home. In the superior part of the campsite, which can be reached over an internal street, are 6 bungalows with 6 beds, and 10 bungalows with 4 beds. Every bungalow consists of kitchen, refrigerating, bathroom/WC, table, chairs, and anything else which is useful for holidays in the nature. At the entrance there is a big car-park for the guests - in this way the cars will not disturb the nature's silence.
The campsite is ubicated at Villafranca in Lunigiana, a small town in the middle of the Magra Valley. From here you can organize various and very interesting excursions towards the sea and the mountains. In less than half an hour by car, you will reach the marvellous Gulf of La Spezia where you can admire the ”Cinque Terre” with their charming fisher villages (Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso) and the surroundings with a maximum height of 650 m Portovenere, Lerici etc.
And in less than half an hour you will reach the Apuanian Alps, where you can e.g. visit Carrara with the most famous marble quarries of the world. Also in the direct surroundings of Villafranca in Lunigiana you can organize a lot of interesting excursions. Just to cite some examples: Pontremoli with its exclusive Museum of Stele-statues, Mulazzo with the Castle Malatestiano which gave hospitality to Dante, Bagnone with a Castle located next to a river, Filetto with its military town. In the evening when you return to the campsite “Il Castagneto” you can have a rest in the shadow of the chestnut trees, which were unforgettable even for the famous poet “Dante”.
